"Things to Be Reminded" is a self-portrait video in which I invite my shadow to engage in a conversation. I ask, “What’s the matter?” In response, the shadow takes on three different sizes: a gigantic shadow cast against the tower, a smaller one that meets my eye level, and a diminishing shadow close to my feet. Each size represents different aspects of my life: the responsibilities of an artist, my attachment to family, and the anxiety of being a stranger trying to adapt to a foreign city. This work serves as both a visual artist statement that supports my career decisions and a cinematic exploration that shapes a narrative character facing struggles and challenges.
