Farewell to Myself – 2018

Farewell to Myself furthers the filmmaking method sourcing from personal experiences. This work was initially conceived as a reply to a mundane incident that happened in San Francisco Art Institute. In one of its quads at the campus, a group of students were gathered by chance and started sharing their international backgrounds. By the end of this unique moment, one enthusiast tapped me and nudged, “hey, you are too quiet.” I felt embarrassed that I did not participate in the conversation. This happening had lingered inside me until completing this film as a reply to the experience. This work is an attempt to lose shy and unconscious persona and to adopt more responsive and engaging one.
